Chapter 178. A Costly Victory
The blonde assassin sprinted with Fiona, retreating from the battle. Red followed him and Aamon, confused but trusting. Ursula, meanwhile, struggled to free herself from the mound of earth Yasmin had created.
They entered the dense forest surrounding Glaeron Field. Anneth quickly climbed a tree, scanned the area, and then jumped back down.
"It's the king," Anneth panted. "I think he's controlling the metaphysics with his staff. Every time he shakes it, they attack us."
"So the Metaphysics aren't in control of themselves? They're under the king's spell?" Red asked.
"I'm not sure if they're conscious, but this staff is forcing them to fight," Anneth replied.
Fiona's face turned pale. The human army would be wiped out if they couldn't defeat the king. The orcs outnumbered them, and now, with the power of the metaphysics behind them, it seemed hopeless.
