Book 3: Behave Differently

All I have to do is behave like I wouldn’t have before I heard about the prophecy. Before that night under the oak tree with Candace, before I knew her shy smile, before all the ups and downs of these weeks.

A deep, bassy howl splits the air. Wolves around me twist toward it. Footfalls echo off the mountains. Does Soren have reinforcements, or—

Dun’s Crossing’s flag flies over the horizon. The reinforcements are here! I throw my head back and join my howl with the others. Focus splits, and fighting breaks out anew. This is all we need to win.
