Book 5: Hair on the Back of My Neck
Ingrid
Amval polishes off the last of the cake just as the band inside takes their break. Sweet relief. If I return, at least I won’t have to deal with their insipid music or anyone asking me to dance.
“I should go back,” I say.
He nods. “Of course. We can’t have anyone looking for you out here.”
Through the window, I watch Kaloni stand up to make her rounds. I should tell him. That speech… maybe it was old, from some Alpha or Luna eons before, and she just didn’t have time to write a new one. Amval could recognize it and end this all here.
But that means he has to listen to me first. And if someone waltzed up to me and implied that Finn may have tried to murder me, I would need a hell of a lot more proof than some speech.
Instead, I just gather my skirts and head back into the party being thrown for my mate’s killer.
Maybe.
A juggler has replaced the band, and more than a few of the guests gather around to watch him.
