I forced myself to calm down, even though my heart was racing like crazy. Going to Alpha Eric’s office during break time wasn’t something that happened every day. Or ever. In fact, the last time and only time I had stepped into that office, it had been one of the worst days of my life. Mark had just fired me, denied my severance, and made sure I was publicly embarrassed. I had followed Alpha Eric into his private elevator back then, almost like a lost puppy, begging for justice. That day still burned in my memory.
