Chapter 86. Fighting an Old Flame

Elena’s POV

I was sitting in the living room, trying to distract myself with a book, when the door opened. My heart sank the second I saw her.

Sara walked in like she owned the place; poised, confident, and completely in control. Every step she took seemed measured, purposeful, like she had been here a hundred times before.

“Hi,” she said, her voice smooth and calm, tilting her head slightly. “Is Eric in?”

I snapped my eyes up, my hands tightening on the book. “What do you want with him?” I hissed, my voice low but sharp.

She smiled faintly, like I was amusing her. “I want to update him on my conversation with the Alpha of Purple River Pack. He’s agreed to attend the summit. That way he can see you and understand exactly how to help.”

I blinked, stunned. “Help? I thought I made it clear, I don’t need your help!” My voice rose despite myself, a mixture of fear and anger twisting in my chest.

“Oh, Elena… it’s already decided,” she said
