Chapter 101. Indifference

Ricard seemed unaware of the shift in Anna’s demeanor. He still held her in his arms, but Anna felt an invisible distance suddenly stretching between them. The warmth and security she once felt from him were gone, replaced by a cold and uncertain void.

Anna stared at the earring, her emotions torn between anger and pain. She wanted to ask, to confront Ricard immediately, but she was also terrified of the answer she might receive.
