Chapter 25

After I shifted back to my human form, I found a long shirt folded in a laundry basket near the back of the motel. It probably belonged to one of the workers, but I didn’t care. I slipped it on quickly, still breathless from the shift, from the run, from everything.
My limbs ached, the burn of the transformation still fading from my muscles, but I didn’t care about the pain. I felt alive. For the first time in forever, I felt whole. My wolf, my beautiful, white, omega wolf, was finally a part of me. And I loved her. Every inch. Every howl.
But now came the hard part.
I pushed the door open to our motel room quietly. The light was on. Victoria was sitting on the edge of the bed, hugging her knees. Her eyes flicked up to me as soon as I stepped in.
Neither of us said anything at first.
I went straight to the bathroom, still avoiding her gaze. The hot water helped a little—it washed away the dirt and the sweat, but not the nerve
