Footsteps cut him off.
Two guards rounded the corner, their expressions hard.
“She’s needed at the hall,” one said.
Ryker moved instinctively, stepping between them and the cell door. “Wait. You can’t—”
“Alpha’s orders,” the other said sharply.
My chest tightened as the key slid into the lock.
Ryker looked at me helplessly. “I’ll be there,” he said. “And I won’t let them hurt you. Just hold on, Liv.”
I gave him a small nod, even as the guards grabbed me again and yanked me from the cell. My knees buckled slightly, and the world spun once, a nauseating dip in my stomach making me gasp, but I did nothing but follow quietly as they led me to the hall where my fate would be decided.
I couldn’t even fight even if I wanted to. My body already ached from being near the silver-lined
