Chapter 56
For Vince's last check-up, when I was freed from this guilt, it took him only a short time as the doctor only said, "You can take off the bandage now."
I noticed Vince could stretch his arms well and could lift something heavy up easily. That's when I realized he was completely fine before we even got here. I don't know when he recovered completely, but he fooled me to take good care of him. I wanted to complain, but I looked at the bright side: I no longer feel obliged to look after him.
"You've recovered well, and the bruise has faded now," the doctor pleasantly nodded. "You're good to go."
"Thank you, doc."
I ignored him even when we left the hospital. I get to have my free time now. I can even get to go straight home. I assumed wrong.
"Jillian, can you do one last thing for me?"
"I've done enough," I grunted. "I've done more than enough."
