“I-It’s my father…” I whispered to myself, I looked up at Raegan who was just watching me seriously.
“It’s papa,” I told him.
He just raised an eyebrow at me as if letting me patch everything up. My hands trembled as I remembered what had happened before.
“This is the… last case that papa handled.”
Raegan nodded as he folded his arms. “Late prosecutor Galvez was shot in the chest 20 years ago, right before the preliminary trial of the plunder case filed against congressman Lavarias. When the prosecutor in charge was replaced, the final trial did not take place because congressman Lavarias’ name was cleared and also- the new prosecutor dropped all charges against him. “
My lips parted and my vision seemed to blur with the sudden formation of tears in my eyes. I didn’t expect I would know it all in one fell swoop. I am shocked by what I see, I am afraid of what I hear, and my anger overflows for no apparent reason.
