Chapter 16
The man stuck a large typing-calloused finger on Bartz’s chest. “I wanna get paid back,” he said.
“Sorry,” Bartz said, turning away from the boozer, “all bets are non-refundable.” He knew he could take the guy easily, so, being noble, Bartz decided to give him a chance to walk away.
“You know, you don’t look so tough,” the man said menacingly. He staggered closer, spilling ale down Bartz’s blue back.
Bartz spun around and slugged the man in one blurred motion. The blow sent the man flying over a table to the floor with a mighty crash that silenced the rest of the bar.
“Well, looks can be deceiving,” Bartz said to the man’s unconscious body.
In an instant, everyone in the bar recognized Bartz and registered the presence of his friends. They stood up and glared at Bartz. Not only were this knight and his cohorts non-techs, but they had the nerve to assault a tech in his own bar. The invaders needed a lesson.
“Zook! I knew this was going to happen,”
