Chapter 5

“Will you be accompanying me all the way to my quarters, kind Tata?” Baris asked as they walked closer to the castle’s main gate.

“Actually,” Tata said, “I have some place different in mind.”

She made a whirling motion with her hands, then snapped her fingers. The two were teleported to the bank of a secluded pond outside of town.

“Ah, the site of our first kiss!” Baris smiled as he gazed at the beautiful azure pond.

“Yes, it’s much more private here!” Tata said, putting her arms around him.

Their bliss was interrupted by a rather rude voice from behind.

“Oh look, look, it’s Prince Baris, the Chicken,” the voice said. A chorus of hiccupping laughter followed the observation.

Baris and Tata whirled around to find three workers standing by a tree, clutching bottles of some less-than-the-finest ale. They had been enjoying their beverages a bit too much.

“The Great Prince Chicken who is too scared to enter the joust,” continued the worker.
