Chapter 28
Cassandra leaned over her desk, eyes tracing the lines of the latest advertising-team report, but her mind kept wandering back to David’s complaint from the week before. She wasn’t interested in his drama, so with a silent shrug she pushed the paper aside and dove back into her work. The hum of printers and distant chatter filled the room as she tapped her pen against the table, determined to refocus. Then, almost without warning, David’s office door swung open and he strode out, his expression stormy. He cut across the carpeted aisle and planted himself squarely in front of her desk.
A ripple of tension ran through Cassandra’s shoulders. They were in the middle of the open-plan office; even if David wanted to lash out at her, half the floor was watching.
