Reaching them, heaving from running too fast, she leaned towards the pram and collected their baby in her arms. Chest rising and falling, violet eyes guarded, she was looking at him like she had never seen him before.
“Mi angel,” he whispered. He wanted to pull her to him. He clenched his hands instead.
“Rafael?” All color drained from her face. Her lips trembled. “What are you doing here?” She was clutching the baby so close to her chest, that he could hear his heart beat wildly at the picture she presented.
A lioness ready to fight to the death to protect her cub. She always had a backbone of steel. Her heart was too pure for the likes of him.
“I came looking for you.” From this moment, he had vowed to be honest with her. No matter what. He watched patiently as she murmured to the nanny in a low voice and handed the precious bundle carefully.
