Chapter 7
Taylor’s POV
The sterile hospital room was filled with an air of heaviness as I stepped inside. Tubes and wires surrounded the small figure lying in the bed, her frail body draped in a hospital gown. A flicker of sadness passed through her eyes as she looked up at me, her name tag reading “Lily.”
“Hello, Lily. I’m Dr. Taylor,” I greeted her softly, trying to hide the concern in my voice. “How are you feeling today?”
Lily mustered a weak smile, her voice barely a whisper. “I’m tired, Dr. Taylor. It hurts.”
My heart sank, knowing the pain she must be enduring. Lily had been diagnosed with leukemia, and despite the treatments, her condition was deteriorating. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on me, reminding me of the fragility of life and the challenges we faced as doctors.
