Victors
The very next day, I’m almost at the same place we kissed, right down to the millimeter. I remember every moment exactly as if I have a photographic memory. And there she stands, just gazing out at the lake while waiting for her.
I’m earlier than she is, as usual, and I use the spare time on my hands to do nothing but reminisce about the beauty of the scenery. It’s early into the night, and I watch the Great Lake Pontchartrain blend into the horizons of the night sky. It’s beautiful.
Even more beautiful is the voice that taps me and tells me, “Yes, Victor, yes, I will be your girlfriend.”
I turn around with a smile on my face and accept her into my embrace. “Well, good evening to you too,” I have to begin with a sarcastic joke, and she just laughs into my chest where her head is buried.
We stay like that for a while in comfortable silence. Finally, she’s mine. The love of my life didn’t reject me, and now we can be together. Goodness know
