Chapter 88
New York Calls
Ken drove into his compound and halted at the parking lot. Before alighting, he caught hold of Mrs. Fanny’s picture which had always been in his portable leather wallet, and put it to his chest, and stamped a classical kiss on it.
He was in New York to meet with Jacy, after getting a message from her earlier the day before. The message said, “Hi, Ken, it is of necessity we meet.” From Jacy…
He breathed uneasily at the thought of Jacy’s troubles and impossibility; worst of it was that he didn’t tell Mrs. Fanny of his whereabouts, even if it be a lie, and he had summoned the courage to turn off his phone – he knew she would be calling his number now. Thoughtfully, he turned on his phone and as soon as the phone came up, tons of messages from Mrs. Fanny came on his phone rapidly:
“Where have you been, darling?”
“I am worried, Ken.”
“What the hell is wrong that your phone is switched off”
“Call me as soon as you get my message”
