“Yeah,” he sighed, gazing at the carnage around them and the small bodies of half-eaten human children still posed gruesomely on the massive dinner table. He’d seen a lot of horrible sh*t, but this ranked in the top five.
Flexing his wings, he gave them a hard, backward flap to shake off some of the blood, then froze with them extended when he felt a creeping sensation along the protective wards at the warehouse.
As the creator of those wards, the conjured magic barriers were keyed to him. He was alerted every time someone entered or left the premises, which was the only reason he’d felt remotely comfortable leaving Livia alone tonight, though he hated having to do so.
