Several Days Later

Another day passed in the blink of an eye. Stepping out of the pack house the next morning, for the first time in a while I wandered the place.

There were some places she had shown me during her recovery before Alyn's attack took place, places that she used to wander and stay in after school periods but wandered into less and less after she was pressured by Alyn and her parents to stay home.

Seeing her rediscover it with me, memories spilled forth out of her as though it was like water to her and that was when I knew that in contrast to whatever I was going to say, her words were far more precious.

Seeing her in that state, speaking no longer from a place of pain or resentment but peacefully, my heart had swelled.
