Chapter 58

I didn't realize how exhausted I was until I collapsed onto my bed. My head was spinning, and my body let out a sigh of relief. As soon as we arrived, Amanda had gone straight to the bedroom's bathroom.

Therefore, I hadn't had a chance to talk to her. But I also understood that she would want to postpone it as much as possible. It had been a very traumatic event for my girlfriend; I couldn't even imagine what she had gone through.

I had to muster all my willpower to avoid overwhelming her. Amanda would talk when she felt ready, and I had to respect that. She was with me again, safe and sound; that was all that mattered to me now.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice the crying until it was too late. The sound of something falling in the bathroom alerted my senses. I jumped to my feet and went straight to the door, knocking.

"Amanda?" I called, tapping the door with my knuckles. "What was that? Are you hurt?" My questions went un
