Chapter 1
As Amelia Parker stood outside the wrought iron gates of her late grandmother's estate, her heart was racing with a mix of worry and joy. She took a big breath in and enjoyed the fresh country air. Then she pushed open the massive gate and entered a world that would forever change her life.
Thoughts were going through her head as she slowly walked inside. She stopped and didn't know whether to feel happy or sad.
The farm was a big piece of land tucked away in the cute town of Silverwood. There were tall, old trees on both sides of the dirt path leading to the stately Victorian home. Their branches reached high into the air, as if they were guarding the secrets inside the estate's walls. As Amelia went further down the road, she became more and more excited.
Though Amelia hadn't seen her grandmother in years, she was filled with memories of happy summer days and warm hugs that had a magical air to them as she stepped onto the porch and looked up at the worn-out wooden sign that said “Parker Manor.” She was now the only one who could inherit this magical place.
When the key was turned, the thick oak door creaked open, showing an entryway full of old furniture and the musty smell of old books. As Amelia lightly touched the shiny surface of an old table, she thought about the stories her grandmother had told her about the town and its secrets.
A pack of werewolves lived in Silverwood, but Amelia didn't know about it. This was a secret kept from everyone for a long time. Gabriel Blackwood, the charming alpha, was at the centre of it all. He knew what would happen to all the magical animals in town.
As night fell and cast a dark blanket over the house, Amelia stood by the window and stared out into the void. Behind the clouds, a full moon rose, giving the forest a dreamy glow. She didn't know that something big was going to happen in her life.
Amelia felt an intense wave of restlessness push her towards the peaceful beauty of the night sky. After putting on her coat and going outside, the cool breeze made her shiver. The woods called to her with their rustling leaves and mysterious whispers.
Amelia walked along a short path that went around some old trees. As the moonlight crept through the trees, it made the forest floor look like a patchwork quilt. The only sound that broke the silence was the faraway howling of animals that come out at night.
A deep growl could be heard in the woods, and Amelia stopped because she was having trouble focusing. Her heart rate went up, and she had a strong desire to run away. But her interest got the best of her, and she slowly moved forward to find out where the sound was coming from.
After that, it happened. In the moonlight, she saw a beautiful animal: a wolf with eyes that sparkled with a mix of wildness and intelligence. The lovely animal looked at Amelia, and she couldn't breathe.
There was an unseen thread that linked their souls and brought them together at that very moment. They looked at each other as if they saw a soul mate, and time stood still. The wolf then did something stupid: he turned into Gabriel Blackwood, the leader of the werewolf pack, to show Amelia who he really was.
Amelia's eyes grew wider with shock and interest. She was interested in the strange person in front of her, and she fell in love with them. Her life would never be the same after this. She thought this was a world of old magic and forbidden love.
As Gabriel and Amelia stood under the moon, they knew something that they didn't say. They had met, and now they were going to start a complicated trip that mixed the supernatural with love.
Standing in front of Gabriel, Amelia had big eyes that were both interested and amazed. The moon's faint light brought out the emotion of the moment. It was very quiet in the room until she found her voice, which was just above a whisper.
“Gabriel... It's you,” Amelia said with a voice full of surprise. “You're the wolf I saw earlier. The connection I felt... It was real, right?”
Gabriel gave a yes sign and looked straight ahead. “Yes, Amelia. It was me. The wolf and the man are one and the same. We are bound by the moon, by our nature. And somehow, you awakened something within me.”
As Amelia slowly drew closer, she put out her hand to touch Gabriel's arm. The moment she touched his warm skin, she felt a shock of energy run through her. “I don't understand, Gabriel. How is this possible? Werewolves, hidden packs... It feels like something out of a fairy tale.”
Gabriel's eyes got softer, showing a mix of sadness and desire. “It may seem like a fantasy, Amelia, but it is our reality. We werewolves have existed in the shadows for centuries, protecting our kind and maintaining the balance of our world. Few outsiders have ever known our secret.”
Amelia listened to Gabriel's words with lots of questions running through her mind. “And what about the witches? The Vespera? Are they real, too?”
There was a hint of fear in Gabriel's face as his mouth got tight. “Yes, the Vespera are very real. They are a powerful coven of witches, our ancient rivals. They seek to harness dark magic and dominate our world. The tension between our factions has persisted for generations.”
Amelia raised an eyebrow in worry, looking at him. “But why tell me all of this? Why reveal your true self to me?”
Gabriel's face became softer, and a small smile showed on his lips. “Amelia, when I saw you in the forest, something within me awakened. It was as if fate had orchestrated our meeting. I couldn't resist the pull, the need to reveal myself to you. There's a bond between us, an inexplicable connection that defies reason. I believe you are meant to be a part of our world, that your presence may hold the key to our future.”
Amelia's heart was beating fast because she was worried and excited at the same time. “But what does this mean for us? Can we be together, despite the risks, because we both know it’s a risk?”
Gabriel moved closer with a firm tone in his words. “I won't lie, Amelia. Our love will face challenges and dangers. But I cannot deny the way my heart leaps when I'm with you, I can’t.. We'll navigate this treacherous path together, Amelia. I'll protect you, even if it means defying the norms of our world.”
Gabriel and Amelia looked at each other and gave each other soft nods. She could tell from what he said that he was being honest and that his feelings were deep. Any doubts she may have had were replaced by a sense that she belonged.
“Then I choose you, Gabriel,” Amelia said in a firm voice. “I choose this extraordinary world and the love we share. Let us face whatever comes our way, united, okay.”
Gabriel grabbed Amelia by the arms and hugged her tightly, his eyes shining with desire. “Together, Amelia. Always and forever .”
Amelia and Gabriel made their vows under the stars at night, but they had no idea what problems were coming. People would question their loyalty and love for each other. But as they hugged each other, they decided to face the challenges that were coming.
Gabriel kept a close eye on Amelia as they looked up at the sky. He wanted to see if she looked worried or unsure by looking at her face. But her face was expressionless and hard to read, just like it had been since their fight on the beach earlier that day. There was worry in his chest as he thought about what she had seen and been through when he wasn't able to control his wolf form. His mind was filled with the terrible pain he must have caused when he changed, even though she hadn't shown him her scars yet. She would always have the scars from that awful event because of him.
He said in a soft voice, “Tell me how you feel about all of this honestly .”
He was shocked by her answer; she sounded calm and controlled, like they were planning dinner instead of talking about the fact that supernatural beings were about to go to war.
Her answer, “I'm more than okay with being a part of this world,” was quick and without much thought. She turned her beautiful face up to the bright night sky above them and let the golden light kiss her skin. “I'll gladly accept my place alongside your people.” “You're right—this is the most spectacular view I've ever witnessed.”
Gabriel was amazed by Amelia's bravery and determination. He didn't understand how she had been able to survive such horrible pain. It wasn't right what happened to her, especially since she was just watching and didn't deserve any of it. Still, she seemed happy and at ease, ready to give up anything for love. He didn't understand how someone could be so strong in those conditions, but he had to admire her bravery and hope.
She was meant to be with him at that moment. All the time. Gabriel felt overwhelmed by how close they were and couldn't picture how things might have been different if he hadn't told Rachel. His only wish was for Amelia never to remember that horrible event, and for him to take full responsibility for what he had done. He promised to keep Amelia safe from anything that could separate them, no matter what. This was true no matter what they had to go through on their rough road. Because he loved her too much to let anyone hurt her again, he wouldn't let them get close enough. Not when he cared most about death.
As he spoke, he realised that Amelia's eyes were getting teary. His soft voice begged her, “Tell me more about your past life in New York.” The words fell freely from her lips onto her pale skin like raindrops, sparkling and reflecting the sunlight that broke through the dark clouds above. He softly kissed her on the lips and then looked out at the huge forest that surrounded Silverwood while she talked about her past life. “I know you won't forget us,” he said, putting his fingers on her cheek. “And I will make sure that our paths cross again someday. Just promise me that you'll live a long and happy life, free from any otherworldly dangers.”
