Chapter 38. The Answer
Abigail’s POV
Matthew hung up the phone, got up from the bed and goes to the door. He calls down the hall for the doctor, probably because he didn’t want to leave me completely alone. I didn’t honestly know what to think or feel. That awful Alpha had actually fooled my dad, and now I was back at square one. I didn’t know where I had my father. The tears prickled my eyes, but I wouldn’t let them fall, not for him or them, actually. They didn’t deserve it, but I deserved peace, and I contemplated asking Matt to not call back and just leave them hanging. But something in my gut told me this was important, however painful it made may be.
The doctor finally came in with the paperwork and I could go home. Matt locked hands with me as we left the hospital. Pack members kept congratulating me on my recovery and I remembered to thank them all for the flowers, chocolate and get-well cards they had sent me while I was there.
