Chapter 29
I asked one of the hotel staff if she knew of a place that was available for rent. Fortunately, she knew someone who owned an affordable apartment a few blocks from the hotel but when I called the owner, she was not available right away and told me to go there around seven in the evening.
After the afternoon snacks, I ventured outside the hotel to explore a little bit of Claybourne City just to familiarize the place. I waited until six thirty before I went to the apartment’s owner. I allocated at least thirty minutes of my time to walk in going there because it would be a waste to pay a taxi fare.
As per our agreement, the owner waited for me at the gate of her apartment at exactly seven in the evening. I waved my hand to the middle-aged woman and she immediately smiled at me. She walked ahead of me, so I followed her. Taking a deep breath, I pushed open the door and stepped inside. The scent of fresh paint and new beginnings greeted me.
"Hello," I greete
