Chapter 26. In the Dungeons
"I don't understand," the empress wailed hysterically. She had been pacing the dungeon for an hour. "Why didn't it work? Where is my power?"
She threw the knife angrily against the wall, causing it to clatter and ricochet off the wall, hitting Nathaniel's leg. He howled in pain and fell to the ground, trying to extract the knife from his thigh.
Moans, cries, and howls - a whole cacophony of sounds enveloped Lyra.
She slowly regained consciousness. Her head was bowed and covered with hanging hair so that no one could see her open eyes, and they were surprised to see the wounded necklace resting on her chest. The main stone of the necklace was cracked, and there was a deep knife mark on it.
"In the name of Beelzebub, I'm so lucky," Lyra whispered.
"I'll get out of here, kiss Adrian, for this damn necklace," she promised herself.
