“That’s helpful information,” the doctor said softly. “Thank you for telling me.”
She asked a few more questions—clarifying questions about the timing of the symptoms, the severity of the nausea, whether Roshanay had noticed any changes in her appetite or her weight. Her tone remained gentle throughout, never rushed, never cold. Roshanay felt herself relaxing slightly, the knot in her chest loosening just a little.
Finally, the doctor set down her pen and closed the clipboard.
“I’d like to do an ultrasound,” she said, standing up from her chair. “It will help us see what’s happening inside. Based on your symptoms and your history, I want to get a clear look at your uterus and ovaries.”
