Chapter 38. I Want You Now

"Really?" he raised his brows and she gave him a small nod.

“But I have a surprise for you,” he said, his lips curving into a smile that twisted her stomach. Danger bells rang in her mind.

“What?” she managed to whisper

“Nawaz!” he called out, and within moments, a man rushed into the room.

“Yes, sir?” Nawaz responded, with his hands crossed respectfully.

Give me that file,” Shehryaar ordered, extending a hand. Nawaz stepped forward and handed over a file to him.

“Leave,” Shehryaar added, not even sparing a glance at him as he flipped open the file. Nawaz vanished from the room.

“Take a look,” he said, extending the file toward her. She hesitated, her fingers trembling as she reached out to get the file. The fear in her rising by leaps and bounds. Her heart beating like a drum in her ears.

Something wasn’t right. She could feel it.

As she read the contents of the file, her heart felt as if it would pounce out of her chest.
