A few days later, we were on our way to the airport, bags packed and all. Rafael wasn’t the one driving, he was right by my side at the back of the car.

It was Jules who was behind the steering wheel. The car was quiet and I stared at the buildings as we drove by them. I don’t know when I was going to be seeing them again, but hopefully not soon.

This place held too much trauma and triggers for me. But a part of me loved it so much. I think I became a better version of myself after everything I had been through.
