Chapter 6. Murders
S:
The door creaks open behind me.
I don’t look up at first. I’m reviewing blueprints, documents, messages stacked like dominoes in my inbox—anything to drown out the static in my head. But the sound of hesitant footsteps pulls my gaze up.
It's Kieran.
One of the few I trust with anything worth trusting.
He stands at the threshold like he’s debating whether this is a good idea. I raise a brow and lean back in my chair. The leather groans beneath me, same as my patience.
“You either talk, or you get out,” I say, drumming my fingers against the desk.
He stiffens. “It’s Rae,” he blurts out. “The police went looking for her.”
I freeze.
It’s been a month. A whole fucking month since that night.
I haven’t reached out.
Not because I didn’t want to.
But because I couldn’t. If I let myself find her… I wouldn’t stop.
So I buried myself in work—ruthless, endless work. Deals. Raids. Logistics. Names. Numbers. Blood.
