Chapter 54. Tension Everywhere

“Why am I not surprised?” Kane grumbled after Emilia told him about her conversation with Lillian.

“We can’t let him get away with that,” said Emilia. “He can’t make her stay with him against her will. He stayed with her this entire time because it benefitted him, not because he loved.”

“Well, that transactional marriage is about to end,” Kane said and got to his feet.

“Where are you going?”

“To pay my brother-in-law an important visit at his clinic.”

“Please, be calm, Kane. Let’s not make things worse.”

“What can be worse than what he’s already doing? Don’t worry, I’ll try not to beat him up.”

Emilia chuckled and kissed her husband before he stormed out of his study to hunt down the offending Samuel. She ran into Elsie on her way to the art room.

“I saw Kane rushing out of the house just now. Is everything alright?”

“He’s going to have a word with Samuel about…”

“What?”

“Um, I don’t know if I should tell you.”
