Chapter 9. At Home?
I stared at my phone screen, not understanding anything that was going on. All that filled my mind was how to leave this restaurant and see my mother. More tears flooded down my cheeks.
My brain immediately suggested that it was Damon. He has been a pain in my life. I will keep wishing that I had never met him.
If my mother dies, I will lose everything. If she dies because of my incapability and failure, then I will lose my whole reason to exist.
I dropped the phone on the floor and began to wonder how on earth I would get out of everything I was in. I had so many things to pay for. And no way of getting the money to pay for them. Everything had been ruled out except for Damon.
Without thinking more, I picked up my phone and replied to the number, “Yes.” I had no other option.
