Chapter 80

Kitty was happy to be back in her office. It was great to stay at home for a while and relax, but it was driving her crazy that she wasn’t at work, and now it was great to get back to work. Kitty knew she loved working; it was all she could think about when she was at home, even right in the bathtub with the classical music and the fruits; all she wanted to do was work.

She was fixing her hair in the mirror as Jason got dressed in his suit right beside her; she knew he had been brooding ever since she gave him that contract address to find Leroy. It was the good and the bad kind of brooding, the bad being that he wasn’t proud of himself for not finding that earlier, and the good kind of brooding being that he was trying to figure out the best way to approach Leroy without scaring him away.

Leroy was, without a doubt, a wounded animal and any slightest movement could set him off and have him running off again. Kitty felt Jason was overthinking it; it was indeed a big mom
