Chapter 60. Glass Box
Brent had been at Serenity Cafe all day. Of course, he wasn’t idle. His laptop and tablet were lit up in front of him. Jace came there, too. They continued to work, albeit more casually.
The staff initially felt awkward in the presence of the two men. However, Beverley asked them to ignore Brent. Eventually, they just treated him like a normal customer.
Fortunately, Brent didn’t bother Beverley or anyone else either. The man was very professional. Still, his presence made Beverley feel awkward and unfree.
She silently watched Brent from afar with a flat face. Couldn't that man get out of here? She wanted to kick him out.
“Ma’am, is he worried about you being sick and wanting to stay here?” Ciara whispered.
Beverley did look like a sick person. Her body was weak, her face tired, and her voice hoarse. She was wearing a scarf, even though it wasn’t winter yet.
It was actually not because of illness, but because she had been exhausted last night
