I felt like dreaming of falling as someone just nudged me hard on my arm. I jolted to sit on the bed, still feeling disoriented.

With my heart hammering in my chest, I stared at Maverick. She was grimacing while holding her huge abdomen.

“I think I just peed in bed, babe.” She wasn’t sure, spread her legs, and looked down between her thighs.

“What?” I blinked out my confusion.

“Did I stutter?” Her voice began to rise.

“No.” I shook off my head. “I mean, are you sure? Or your water just broke.”

“I don’t know.” Her breathing quickened and her chin started to tremble. “I’m scared.”

“Hey. I know it’s scary, but you’re not alone. I’m here with you and never leave your side, and we practiced this many times, that we shouldn’t panic, and everything will be okay,” I said those words to calm her when I started to panic myself. I held her hand, squeezing it when she began to grimace. It must be the contraction.
