Chapter 79. Fake Promises

Miatta's POV

I owned nothing in Red Bone Pack. I had no claim to anything or anyone, no property, no title but after leaving Lucas' room, I had purpose. If I couldn't save Addy, the least I could do was to grant her wish of seeing me safe.

So, I had nothing to pack. All the clothes I owned except the ugly, scratchy brown sackcloth all slaves wore were gifted to me by Lucas. As it was, they were holed up in it room as well and I saw no need to go looking for them.

He could give them to the next woman who was foolish enough to warm his bed. Mate or not, I was not going to fall for his apologies and fake promises again. With Addy's help, I could finally go home. Her death would not be in vain, after all.

“Leader Miatta,” Taylor called me and I snapped out of my frenzy, putting on a blank countenance.
