As we drove away from the hospital, I couldn’t help but steal glances at Alpha Sherman from the corner of my eye.

Something about him was so different from Zack—they might share blood, but they couldn’t be more different in how they carried themselves.

With Zack, conversations always felt like performances. He’d listen with one ear, already formulating his response before I finished speaking.

But Alpha Sherman... he actually listened.

“Thank you for picking me up,” I said, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between us. “I know you must be busy.”

He kept his eyes on the road, but I noticed his grip on the steering wheel relax slightly. “I’m never too busy to honor our arrangement, Silvia.”
