Gerald drove past every speed limit in order to reach the packhouse. How enraged he was that Zeila would dare to follow his instructions! That had never been done before by anyone. Whether a mate or not, she was still under his authority and expected to obey all of his decisions. His authority in his own pack would suffer a great deal if he ignored her.
By now, he could bet everyone was paying close attention to them and knew exactly what was going on. He had announced her as his mate at Blue River, but not in Golden Iris yet. That in itself must have made tongues waggle greatly.
Everyone avoided getting in his way as he drove into the parking lot and strode toward the packhouse. Not wanting to wait for the elevator, he went up the steps. He heard Zeila talking to herself when he got to the door. She swore at him, calling him a liar, a coward, and irresponsible. And how, should he dare send her away, she would choke him to death. But he was not in the mood for her bulls
