They went to over four packs to search but they would not let them in. Fred was correct; the rejection came as soon as they said they were trying to find Derrick's mate. The Alphas shielded their females from him, preferring that they not mate.

Because of his unconventional lifestyle, he was viewed as an outcast by the other members of his species. Indeed, he hoped that everyone would respect their personal space. That was always asking too much of werewolves, though. They had complete knowledge of each other's lives, thus gossiping was right up their alley. 

He led his Beta to a hotel, frustrated. They would spend the night and eat there. Returning home and devising another strategy to locate his mate would be his only option.
