Jack pulled at his hair tightly, trying to gather his thoughts on what to do. “Shouldn’t you go after her?” his wolf pestered.
He hissed in response. “I can’t act irrationally like Kate. This isn’t just about her; it’s for Mona’s safety. Alpha Ri Dylan isn’t just considered a cruel man for nothing; he does live up to his name. What if he decides to punish us further and ends up killing our dear Mona?”
His wolf kept quiet at this point, realizing Jack might be right. Uncertain of what step to take, he rushed after his wife, only to find her facing the wall crying profusely. Jack’s shoulders slumped as he felt helpless himself.
“Honey!” he whispered behind her.
Kate turned around, leaning into him while holding a hand to her face. “I’m so sorry for lashing out at you like that. I just felt so overwhelmed.”
