Jack stood by the window, trying to calm his nerves that kept jumping out of place. He wished they hadn’t given the Alpha an extra day ultimatum. He felt like shifting into his wolf and making his way towards the Lycan Pack. All through the night, he could hear Kate heaving. She was having a hard time sleeping. Jack felt guilty, almost like it was all his fault. It feels like he has failed as the protector of the Ryan family.
“Stop being so negative. You have done the best you can. Let’s just wait it out,” his wolf advised.
Gripping the window, Jack hissed. “I can’t seem to stay still. What if we thought wrong about her safety? What if my daughter has been mauled by those heartless wolves?” he wailed.
His wolf huffed. “Don’t be like that. Mona is fine. I can assure you that.”
Nodding his head, Jack turned around to find Kate staring at him with no emotions in her eyes. Her rigid stance was like she had turned into stone.
