Chapter 48. Host a Ball

Anastasia's POV

Two weeks. It has been two weeks since I last saw Ryan. I do not know his whereabouts, and I feel foolish for having searched for him. It seems he does not want to be found.

My heart weighs heavily in my chest when I think about the way we last spoke. Every night I recall our first, and so far, only and last kiss. I can still feel the warmth of his lips against mine, the way his tongue invaded my mouth, and his taste was magnificent.

The night always brings a sense of nostalgia and sadness when it arrives. After spending the day remembering Ryan and reflecting on my poor choices. My dreams are agitated and confusing, but when the day comes, like today, everything empties from my mind. Why did I have to ruin everything? Why did I cling to the idea of revenge? This is not how my mother raised me; am I truly the dark part of the prophecy? The darkness that will destroy the whole kingdom?
