Chapter 65. Awakening in Chains

Anastasia POV

I regain consciousness with water droplets falling on my face. I feel my neck a bit sore and my vision is still blurry, dizziness hits me when I try to get up quickly. I realize I'm lying on a single bed with a thin mattress, chains binding my feet to the floor. The chains are cold and heavy, each movement echoing in the small cell.

The floor is cold, stained, and uneven, with some puddles of water reflecting the dim light that enters. Every step I take resonates with a hollow sound, heightening the sense of isolation. There's a small window at the other end of the cell, with thick bars; its height doesn't allow me to see much, even when I stand on tiptoes. The light coming through the window is weak and greenish, suggesting that perhaps it's surrounded by vegetation outside, or that the dungeon is on a subterranean level where daylight barely penetrates.
