Chapter 148. Victory At Last

Elliot POV

I sighed as I kept my eyes fixed on Carl. His feeble figure was laying in bed, draped with a blanket. Carl was breathing loudly, and his temperature was higher than usual. We had all thought Carl would be fine after he had been healed, but he was suddenly hit by a fever in the night.

I brushed my hands over his sweat filled forehead and exhaled. It broke my heart to see him in this state, and I wished I could stay by his side much more longer. I had stayed up with him all night, making sure to monitor him because of how worried I was.

The door to my room cracked open, and I turned back to see mother, walking up to me. She placed a hand on my shoulder and I placed a hand on hers.

“You know you will be departing soon,” She said in a soft tone.

I nodded. “I am well aware of that.”

“I understand that you are worried about him, but you need not worry, I will make sure he is taken care of properly.”
