Chapter 81. Deep Breaths

Suzie POV

My body been to quiver, an involuntary action I was not anticipating. I grabbed my arms, hugging myself tight as if to shield my body from a cold gust of wind that has blown by. But my body did not stop shaking. I grit my teeth, my eyes wide as I realized just why I was acting like this.

It was my body, remembering the fear and anxiety I had felt being in the dark alpha king’s presence. My teeth began to jitter and tears streamed down my eyes as I looked to the ground.

“Hey, hey, it’s okay. You’re safe now, he’s not going to get you,” Asher said as he enveloped me in a warm embrace.

Slowly, but surely, my body stopped quivering. I could not tell if it was because of the warmth of his body, of the way he stroked my back so softly, but the memories, fear and anxiety I had felt dissipated from my very being.
