Chapter 118. Unabated Grief
Vance's POV
“Who was she?” Sianna demanded, and she took another whiff, “I know this scent, so talk now.” Her face was flushed and her eyes red. She was breathing hard and I ached to hug her and be close to her. “Was it Chloe?”
The sound of that woman's name on Sianna's lips twisted my soul. I didn't want to discuss her right away. I would rather tell Sianna that I love her, now and forever more, and try to excavate some positivity out of this dark time to help us heal.
Standing there, waiting for my reply, she stared intently at me. For once in my life, I felt weighted down by someone's intensity. Lying or trying to get my way out of this would make her angrier and cause more damage, but due to her state, I was not going to tell her everything tonight.
“Yes, it was her.” I took three steps toward her but she retreated. The impression when I came home was that she was asleep. I assumed that due to restlessness, slumber could not hold her down
