Raina’s POV

“Where's Valen?” It was the first thing that spurted from my mouth upon entering Alpha King Vance's home.

Venus and I rushed into the somber foyer after Devin opened the front door. My heart thudded with panic in my chest. Valen’s vague message was burning in my mind. It was very unsettling, and I needed answers now.

“You might want to talk to Luna Sianna first.” Devin closed the door behind us, looking shabby and woeful, like a mourning man.

Something was up.

Concerned, Venus and I hurried to the living room, and the air shifted.

There was an unmistakable gloominess, filled with the low, heavy voices of Uncle Blayne and Uncle Duke. Alpha King Vance paced back and forth in the walkway by the stairs, cursing under his breath.

“They got him,” Uncle Duke murmured, hunched forward on the single couch facing me, rubbing his jaw. “It wasn’t silver. How can there be no change?”
