Chapter 346. Moon-Mangling
Raina’s POV
A blonde girl who looked barely sixteen ran. Her brown clothes were tattered, and her face streaked with dirt and tears. She stumbled, nearly falling, then kept going, her breath ragged, hope burning bright and fragile in her eyes.
“Get out of there, girl. Run.” I endorsed desperately, already moving. “Hurry! You run until you can’t run anymore.”
The girl almost made it. A thrill ran through me thinking she might really escape, which quickly soured when four furcans stepped out from behind a black transport truck, blocking her path.
She skidded to a stop and spun abruptly, but now faced another set of oncoming furcans. She was trapped. They closed in, slow and menacing, like they’ve done this a hundred times before.
“Stop it!” I screamed, breaking into a run.
