Raina’s POV

Mercedes' head slowly turned as she regarded them, and her face lit up with a smile. In the mindscape, she looked as healthy and wholesome as she did before getting sick.

Her parents rushed over to her, their hands trembling as they reached for her.

“It’s Dad,” Connery whispered, holding her hands. “I’m here, sweetheart.”

“Mommy’s here too.” Bessa sobbed, grasping her face and kissing her on the cheek.

My eyes watered when the three of them hugged and cried. It was a real heartfelt moment. They told her they loved her, even remembered some cute childhood moments, and begged each other for forgiveness about everything.

It lasted a while, and I was caught up in their sentimental moment until I began to feel drained and emotionally heavy.
