Chapter 27
Liana’s POV
“It’s me. Killian.”
My whole body shuddered.
Relief crashed into me, but it came tangled with confusion and frustration. I tried to speak, but he didn’t let me. He moved his mouth to my neck, brushing his lips over the sensitive spot beneath my jaw—the exact place he’d marked me. My skin burned under the touch, as if he knew exactly what it did to me.
“Killian—” I managed to whisper, trying to turn my face. “What are you doing here? You said—”
“I know,” he murmured, cutting me off, his hands sliding down to my hips. “I know what I said. I tried. God, Liana, I tried to stay away.”
He kissed me again, lower this time, down my collarbone. My breath hitched as he pressed me into the bed, his body warm and solid against mine.
“I thought it was the right thing. I thought maybe one night away would help. But it didn’t. I couldn’t sleep. Couldn’t think. I just kept imagining you here… alone. And I couldn’t take it.”
