Chapter 9
Liana’s POV
His jaw was ticking dangerously. He held the steering wheel so tightly I was afraid his hands might break in half. His knuckles were ghost white from the pressure, stained faintly with blood from the fight.
“Thank you,” I whispered shakily. My voice was so soft it barely filled the space.
He didn’t answer.
He didn’t even glance at me.
His eyes remained fixed on the road. They were dark with barely restrained rage. He drove faster and faster. He took me God knows where, while I sat there silently crying. I realized just how much my world had spiraled completely out of my control.
The car was dead silent. The only thing I could hear was my own shaky breathing. Killian didn’t say a word. Not once. His hands held the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles turned white, and his jaw—God—his jaw was locked so tight it looked as if he was seconds away from exploding.
