Chapter 103. Confrontations
Teyana’s POV
Carol’s hand stayed on my arm as we entered the ward, like she wasn’t sure I would stay standing.
My mother sat on the bed, her hair tied back loosely, IV taped to her wrist. The doctor stood beside her, giving his final discharge instructions.
“Ah Teyana, you are here. Your mother is ready to be discharged now.” He said, smiling at me.
“Thank you.” I managed to say, my eyes now on my mother. She looked strong, but her eyes said otherwise.
She finally looked up at me, and surprisingly, a small smile came on her lips. I almost thought I was imagining it. “Teyana,” She called, as if she had been longing for me to be here.
My throat closed up. “Mum…”
Her smile deepened, soft and fragile. “Come here.”
Carol squeezed my shoulder gently, then murmured something about getting water before stepping out, leaving just us and the quiet sound of machines.
